9 PARTICIPANTS IN ASSETS FOR ARTISTS PROGRAM!

Berkshire Creative, MASS MoCA, MCLA’s Berkshire Cultural Resource Center, and Pittsfield’s Office of Cultural Development, along with volunteer advisors from IS183, the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center and Berkshire Community Action Council, have completed the selection process for the first round of individual development accounts (IDAs) available through their collaborative project; Assets for Artists.

Assets for Artists is aimed at helping artists throughout Berkshire County who wish to become home owners and/or receive small business grants, training and assistance. Nine low- to moderate-income artists from across the county are opening state-subsidized IDAs that provide restricted grants to match the artists’ own savings when invested in first-time home ownership or targeted small business investments. (See www.massassets.org/message.html for more information on IDAs.)

The nine participants in the first round of the IDA program are:

This summer she is launching a newly created line of fabrics called ELEMENTS. Martha commissioned the fabrics to be digitally printed (in the US) on a new fabric made of 100% recycled plastic bottles.
