How the Local Cultural Council Program Works
1. Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) receives funding from an annual state appropriation.
2. Each year, the MCC distributes funds to Local Cultural Councils (LCCs); in turn, LCCs make grants to schools, organizations and individuals in their communities.

Allocations are made to ALL of Massachusetts’ 351 cities and towns to support community cultural activities.

LCCs will review applications from individuals, schools, and organizations to fund programs and events such as field trips, after school programs, concerts and festivals. Cultural activities take place in community centers, elder care facilities, libraries, parks, schools, town halls – wherever communities come together – to improve resident’s lives.
