Local Photo Conservation Company Perserves and Serves

Local Photo

What distinguishes the Berkshires, is that just when you think you know all about this county and those who inhabit it, you learn something new. That is how we at Berkshire Creative felt when Chicago Albumen Works contacted us.

Founded in 1976 in Chicago, the firm relocated to Berkshire County in 1982 and has been providing a wide range of traditional and digital services for institutional and corporate photograph collections since.

Chicago Albumen Works list of clients include the Norman Rockwell Museum for which they archived 18,000 negatives in the studio collection. CAW also conserved and reproduced a 7′ x 9′ turn-of-the-century photographic display, for Deadwood, SD, for which they received a 2008 Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History. Currently, CAW has set up and staffed a digital lab at the Museum of the City of New York, where they are archiving of approximately 11,000 photographic negatives.
