Lee personally requested a private party at Kim’s Dragon on West Housatonic Street. Actors Eugene Levy and Emile Hirsch stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Pittsfield. And dozens of crew members stayed at the Pittsfield Ramada, Vacation Village and Jiminy Peak.
Local hardware stores and equipment supply companies across the county were used to stock everything from PVC to portable heaters.
Mike Debella, 44, owner of the Hitchinpost Cafe in New Lebanon, said the town will never forget Lee and his crew.
“I was able to pay off my mortgage,” said DeBella, who helped cater for the film. “Economically it was awesome, and it came at a bad time in our economy.”
