ABOUT THE MOUNT
Edith Wharton Restoration was founded in 1980 to preserve and restore The Mount as a tribute to its remarkable creator and to establish The Mount as a cultural and literary center.
The guiding principles are: preservation, education, and quality in all endeavors.
Edith Wharton Restoration’s goals include: creating the Edith Wharton Center for the Written Word, to celebrate the literary arts, restoring the Georgian Revival stable and gatehouse, recreating the elaborate kitchen garden designed by Beatrix Farrand, expanding both educational and cultural programming.

The Berkshire Artists Colony (BAC) is a non-profit art organization founded in 2009 by working artists for working artists. Through workshops, lectures, exhibitions, performances, studio space, and artists’ residencies, the BAC seeks to promote the creation and appreciation of contemporary art, literature, and performance. Hancock Shaker Village celebrates 50 years as an outdoor living history museum this year, bringing the Shaker story to life through reflection on principled living. Exhibits, tours and programs that investigate sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and historic preservation offer insight for our modern lives using examples from history. Join us for special anniversary events this fall, including Country Fair September 25th and 26th, and our famous Shaker Suppers in October and November. The contemporary art exhibit, Simple Gifts: Contemporary Artists Celebrate HSV’s 50th Anniversary, is on view until October 15th, and will be auctioned on October 16th at 5pm.
North Adams Open Studios opens its doors for you to come celebrate a weekend of art with over 100 artists exhibiting their work. Open Studios takes place on Saturday, October 16th and Sunday, October 17th 2010 from 10 am to 6 pm.
During this free event for the arts, established, mid-career and emerging artists working in a broad spectrum of fine art styles and craft media will exhibit and sell their work.
