ABOUT

ABOUT

The mission of Berkshire Creative is to stimulate new job growth and economic opportunity in the region by sparking innovative collaborations between artists, designers, cultural institutions and businesses.

HOW WE CAME TO BE

In 2007 the Berkshire Creative Economy report was unveiled as part of the Berkshire Blueprint, defining and quantifying the creative sector of Berkshire County’s economy.

As defined in the report this sector includes, the cultural powerhouses: museums, historic homes and theatres, and theater companies that have grown and developed into international icons attracting millions and creating jobs. Less well known are the many designers, architects, artists, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs who have chosen to make the Berkshires their creative home. Over 6000 local jobs were included in this sector, identifying it as a key industry for the Berkshire region.

Since the report, the organization Berkshire Creative has developed to support and grow this industry.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

This means a new way of looking at things:

Berkshire Creative is a movement: a movement that came into being at the intersection of art, innovation, design and creation. It’s a big concept to grasp all at once, encompassing the collaboration between disparate groups in a dynamic new direction that is uniquely Berkshire.

One line sums it up better than anything else: Creativity means Business in the Berkshires.

Berkshire Creative is about conversation: creating the connections between creativity and business, with a goal towards sparking into being the next generation of opportunity in the Berkshires.
